A day at the counter

Orebia follows the way a Kenyan shop actually runs, from the morning float to the evening count.

  1. 7:45 am

    Open the till

The cashier counts the float in. The shift starts with a number you both agree on.

  2. 9:10 am

    Scan and sell

Scan a barcode, search, or tap a product. Take cash, M-Pesa or card, or split one sale across them.

  3. 11:30 am

    Sell on credit

A regular takes goods now and pays on Friday. Orebia keeps their balance and every repayment, so nobody argues about the book.

  4. 1:15 pm

    Borrow from next door

Out of a charger the customer wants? Sell one borrowed from the shop next door. Orebia records what you owe them and settles it when you pay or return it.

  5. 4:00 pm

    Check in from anywhere

The owner, at another branch or at home, sees today’s sales and profit on their phone.

  6. 7:30 pm

    Close and count

The cashier counts the drawer. Orebia shows what should be there, what is there, and any difference.

Set up for the shop you run

Know which phone went to which customer.

Every handset is tracked by its IMEI or serial number, from the day it arrives to the day it is sold or returned.

  • Pick the exact unit at the till, so the receipt carries its IMEI
  • Returns go back into stock by IMEI, not as a guess
  • Sell stock borrowed from a neighbouring shop and track what you owe
  • Bulk prices for accessories bought by the dozen

Questions shop owners ask

Do I need to buy special equipment?

No. Orebia runs in the browser on a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop you already have. A receipt printer and a barcode scanner help in a busy shop, but you can start without them.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Open app.orebia.com on your phone and choose “Add to Home Screen”. It then opens like any other app.

Does it work without internet?

Orebia needs a connection to record sales, but it uses very little data. Mobile data on a phone is enough.

Is M-Pesa connected automatically?

Not yet. The cashier records M-Pesa payments with the transaction code, and they show up separately in your reports and cash count.

I have two shops. Which plan do I need?

Duka covers one shop, and a second is KES 2,000 more, so two shops cost KES 4,000 a month in one account. From three shops, Biashara is cheaper and adds shifts, cash counts and accounting.

What happens after the 14 free days?

Pick the plan that fits and keep going. Everything you entered during the trial stays.

Can my staff see my profits?

Only if you let them. Cashiers see the till and their own sales. Managers see their shop. Directors see everything.

I already have my products in Excel. Do I start again?

No. Send us your list on WhatsApp and we will help you get it in.
